Back in the fall of 2000, while working as a financial analyst at a Fortune 500 medical device manufacturer, the opportunity to become a Pillar administrator marked my entry into the Hyperion world. I soon discovered that I had a “knack” for financial systems.
Over the course of my corporate tenure, I was fortunate enough to support management reporting needs using Hyperion Enterprise & Spiderman, experience the wonders of Hyperion Planning & Essbase and finally (and possibly most importantly), implement
A brief aside for those that don’t know the history of FDM – The product Upstream Weblink (or simply Upstream as most came to know it) started small. The product usage grew due to a almost maniacal commitment to customer satisfaction. In April 2006, Hyperion Solutions purchased Upstream and renamed the product Hyperion Financial Data Quality Management – or simply “FDM” (yes the “Q” is intentionally dropped). With the Oracle acquisition of Hyperion Solutions, the commitment to FDM has only grown stronger.
Fast forward to 2006. I excitedly entered the world of Hyperion consulting – joining the HFM powerhouse team at Vertical Pitch. With my previous experience with Upstream and the tight integration that FDM provides to HFM, it seemed only natural that I would continue to grow my FDM skill set.
Jump ahead a couple of years to 2008. Vertical Pitch and Ranzal & Associates combined to become the preeminent provider of Oracle/Hyperion consulting. Our teams implement world class solutions for HFM, Essbase (ASO & BSO), Planning (including HPCM), OBIEE and finally FDM.
At Ranzal, I am the FDM practice manager. My team and I focus on being experts in the product. We are consistently on the forefront of new product functionality – for example, ERPi. Additionally, I am actively involved in the Oracle Customer Advisory Board (CAB) and beta teams for FDM.
And in recent news, I am now an Oracle ACE! I am both humbled and thrilled to be a part of such a prestigious community of Oracle experts. You can read some interesting facts about the Oracle ACE program on the Announcements page.
I hope you find my blog useful in understanding all that the FDM product can and does do within the EPM suite.
On A Personal Note
I am a transplant to Boston, MA but still love my Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins although I have to admit I have been converted to a Red Sox fan. I am ”that dad” who will proudly show you pictures of my insanely cute little girl. I’d categorize myself as a bit of a geek and a bit of an athlete – I enjoy learning program languages (JAVA is my latest endeavor) while also enjoying a gym & treadmill session.
